Graduate Education
Summary of Procedures
To report student progress toward degree completion, the graduate chair of the field of study submits the following student progress forms to the Graduate Division Records Office (progress of masterís Plan B and Plan C students may be reported on departmental forms):
Student Progress Form No. Reporting, as applicable: Required for:
I Results of preliminary conference; appointment of interim adviser; degree plan Master's (Plan A) and doctoral students
II Results of general examination; admission to candidacy Master's (Plan A) students
  Results of qualifying examination; admission to candidacy; certification of proficiency in first foreign language Doctoral students
III Appointment of thesis/dissertation committee or program committee/adviser Master's (Plan A) and doctoral students
IV Approval of thesis/dissertation topic Master's (Plan A) and doctoral students
V Certification of proficiency in second foreign language; results of comprehensive examination Doctoral students
VI Results of final oral examination Master's (Plan A) and doctoral students
VII Judgment of thesis/dissertation Master's (Plan A) and doctoral students
