Chancellor's Message

On behalf of the University of Hawai'i at Manoa, I am delighted to introduce you to
the 2013-2014 General Catalog. These pages contain the information you need to launch
an academic journey at the most unique university campus in the nation. UH Manoa is
situated in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, where East meets West, and our students are
learning, doing research, developing critical thinking, and being imbued with a global
sense of citizenship. We are committed to helping students find their passion!

UH Manoa is a major public research institution that is inspired by its land-grant
mission, while earning national and international recognition for academic rigor and
life-changing research. This is home base to critical research enterprises generating more
than $1 million per day through partnerships with other educational institutions, local
businesses, national and international entities, and government agencies. We are also dedicated
to grounding the campus in the traditional values of the Native Hawaiian culture.
