Within these pages, you will find a wealth of information to assist you on your academic journey. From admission, registration and academic advising information to detailed course descriptions, program information and graduation requirements, this comprehensive book will provide you with the tools you need to chart your course toward a degree in your chosen field.

As a University of Hawai‘i at Manoa student, you will enjoy the prestige of belonging to a world-class institution that not only is honored as a Carnegie Doctoral/Research University-Extensive institution, but also is one of only a dozen U.S. colleges or universities that hold land, sea and space designations. With close to 90 bachelor’s degrees, more than 85 master’s degrees, over 50 doctorates, and first professional degrees in law, medicine and architecture offered, you will be amazed by the rich diversity of academic resources available to you in a host of disciplines.

Knowing that a new life phase can be daunting, our excellent faculty, advisors and professional staff will provide ready support to you. With their aid, you will learn about your options, the rules and procedures of your chosen college, and milestones that ensure steady travel through your educational experience.

Besides access to internationally acclaimed programs and supportive faculty and staff, you will soon discover that your university experience is like no other. Our unique geographic location, combined with our rich cultural heritage, will enable you to meet fellow students from around the world and gain insight into their lives and cultures. These encounters will truly bring your studies to life as you learn how the practical applications of your chosen field can change lives throughout the world.

Since our founding in 1907, the University of Hawai‘i at Manoa has had the privilege of educating five generations of families. These families have benefited from our leadership position within the Asia-Pacific region. It is my pleasure to invite you to review the 2007-2008 General Catalog and discover the individuals and the academic programs that will transform your life.

With warm aloha,
